MagickaSpace - Rules & Regulations

• Important: Please understand that the Administrators here at MagickaSpace are volunteers with the difficult job of enforcing the rules of the site. The Administrators did not make the rules - therefore please refrain from taking out any frustrations you may have with the rules or the enforcement thereof on our staff. If you have a problem with any of the rules here at the site, then please contact the Network Creator, Torey (http://magickaspace.ning.com/profile/ToreyScott) or the Magicka School founder, Pino Longchild (http://magickaspace.ning.com/profile/PinoLongchild).
  
  When you sign up for membership at MagickaSpace, you agree to abide by the rules set forth for the site. If you choose to violate those rules then you must understand that it is not the fault of the staff nor the site if you receive a warning. We do not ban members frivolously - and those who have received a ban from MagickaSpace have had their actions reviewed by a board of nine Administrators and Moderators, with the support of Pino Longchild, who have voted and collectively made the decision to ban the member in question.
  
  We ask that you refrain from discussing banned members in the chat room. If you have questions regarding banned members then please forward them to Torey (http://magickaspace.ning.com/profile/ToreyScott).

(The following content is taken from the Magicka School Forum and features amendments pertaining specifically to the concerns of MagickaSpace, an addition to Magicka School. The following content is attributed to Pino Longchild and to the Administrators of Magicka School)

All members of MagickaSpace, whatever their role, are expected to abide by and uphold the rules below:

I. GENERAL SITE RULES

• No put-downs, flaming, bullying or aggressive behaviour designed to intimidate or harass other members, this includes being condescending by calling members ‘sweetie’ ‘dear’ or ‘hon’ while you are actually patronising them. ‘Debate the idea, don’t attack the poster.’
  
• All new accounts at MagickaSpace must be reviewed and approved by Administrators before being activated.
  
• New accounts found signing up under false or inactive email accounts will remain unactivated and/or banned permanently.
  
• Although Ning.com invites members to create their own social networks, MagickaSpace will not tolerate members signing up for our site and using it as a launchpad for advertising their own Ning.com sites. If you are caught not participating in MagickaSpace and sending out multiple invitations to other Ning.com websites, your account will be removed.
  
• Though joint membership is not required to sign up for a MagickaSpace account, we encourage all members of MagickaSpace to also participate in the School area of our sister site, MagickaSchool.com, by taking advantage of our free courses. We also encourage all members of MagickaSpace to sign up for a free account at our 6,000-member-strong Main Site Forum. The reason for this is to encourage you to support Magicka School, without which MagickaSpace would not exist. Because of this, we reserve the right to remove any account which expressly voices disinterest in also joining the school and/or participating in Magicka School's main site forum. After all, MagickaSpace is "The Social Networking Site for Members of Magicka School".
  
• Any one member found signing up with multiple false accounts for the purpose of harassing members or staff or for any other reason will have their primary account, as well as all subsequently established accounts, permanently banned.
  
• Harassment of other members or of staff is not only against the rules of the site, but is also unlawful. MagickaSpace will not hesitate to seek the appropriate legal actions against those members who purposefully defame and/or harass other members or staff of this site.
  
• We believe in second chances, and anyone who receives a temporary ban will have said ban lifted in 30 days' time. However, during the period of time in which the temporary ban is in place, if the member proceeds to defame MagickaSpace or the MagickaSpace staff, threaten, harass or make demands of the site and of the staff, the Administrators reserve the right to upgrade the temporary ban to a permanent and incontestable ban.
  
• Racism, sexism, ageism (age discrimination) and religious bigotry against ALL religions (including Christianity) is not allowed. No hate speech please! While this is a predominantly Pagan/Wiccan website, we do have members that are not. Please keep this in mind while posting and commenting and refrain from bashing and speaking ill of another religion.
  
• If your account has been banned, permanently or temporarily, from the main forum (at http://magickaschool.com/forum), you are not allowed to create an account at MagickaSpace. If you have been banned from the main forum and you have created an account at MagickaSpace, your account at MagickaSpace will be banned upon discovery. Depending upon the nature of your main forum ban (permanent or temporary), you may be allowed to have your ban at MagickaSpace lifted once your main forum ban has also been lifted, if your ban at the main forum is of a temporary nature. Your account at MagickaSpace will be re-instated once your main forum ban is lifted. However, permanent main forum bans equal permanent MagickaSpace bans. Being banned at one location also equals being banned at the other.
  
• No swearing nor sexually explicit, inflammatory comments and discussions nor those which pertain to illegal activities.
  
• No solicitation of telephone numbers, physical addresses, email addresses, real names or any other personal information from another member outside of private message. Absolutely NO solicitation of any personal information from another member in the chat area.
  
• No giving out of personal information (telephone number, home address, email address, etc.) in the chat area or anywhere else on the site outside of private message.
  
• If a member, unsolicited, requests personal information from another member through the private message system and this causes distress to the member being asked for said information, that member is to contact an Administrator immediately.
  
• No spamming or deliberate multi-posting or commenting in different groups or on different member-pages with the same topic.
  
• No multiple accounts (with the exception of admin who have ‘test’ accounts to make sure all the technical changes are running smoothly).
  
• No posting videos, audio or images of another member of MagickaSpace without their permission.
  
• No posting of links which promote the illegal download and/or transfer or copyrighted or prohibited audio, video or text files.
  
• No illegal activity or promotion of illegal activity including, but not limited to, pornography, scam sites etc.
  
• Try to talk and write normally and not like you would on a mobile phone, or on instant chat. We appreciate good grammar.
  
• Respect copyright! Legally, you can reproduce a small amount of text for education purposes (as long as you cite the text afterwards), but it is illegal to copy entire chapters, websites, etc. from books, sites and magazine articles. When in doubt, write something in your own words with links to where you got the information from.
  
• We ask that there is no advertising for similar services to those offered by Magicka School and MagickaSpace, particularly On-line courses (this can include information found on your member-page). If you are unsure if your services conflict with that of Magicka, contact an Administrator.
  
• Again, please don't post sexually explicit information on this site, we have minors here. If you're unsure what counts as sexually explicit, ask yourself if it would be shown on a G-rated program and if you're still not sure, PM one of the Administrators.
  
• We ask that you try and stay on-topic within discussions; you can post about whatever you want, but if there is a good debate on Wicca going on, please don't come in and talk about your kitten. Administrators reserve the right to remove non-related topics and posts.
  
• Please don't be afraid to start new topics or revive old topics in discussion areas if you have something to say. It doesn't matter if that topic is 6 months old, if you have something you need to add - add it! We want to hear your opinions, experience, knowledge and growth. We all can learn something from each other and that includes you.
  
• Do not carry arguments and flame-wars between groups and member-pages. If you have a heated disagreement in one thread between yourself and other member (or members), leave it there!!! Arguments off-site, stay off-site. If you absolutely cannot leave your argument alone, ask for an Administrator to mediate between you to try and resolve the problem.
  
• Do not publicly post the content of PMs or emails on the site or forward them to other members, without the consent of the other party.
  
• Trying to find ways around the policies that are in place will result in deletion of posts and/or a warning.
  
• There is a 1 warning rule in place before a temporary ban from the site will occur. Then if the behaviour continues you may have a permanent ban from the site. These warnings do not have to be within the same offence but are accumulated overall. There is no time limit on these warnings, and will result in a ban after any amount of time.
  
• Nobody is above the rules, including the Administrators. If you notice Administrators breaching these rules in some way, please keep a copy of it where you can and contact Pino or another Administrator immediately.
  
• The Administrators reserve the right to remove, edit, move and close any topic, post, signature, avatar, comment etc. as necessary to prevent trolling and to make sure that people do not try and skirt around the rules as outlined above (it does happen). This is to ensure that the site stays a safe place for all the good-hearted members of MagickaSpace.

GENERAL RULES FOR THE CHAT FEATURE

The following behaviours will result in two warnings and then a ban from the chat. Depending on the seriousness of the offence, you may be banned from MagickaSpace.

• No swearing.
  
• No direct intolerance or intention to victimise or intimidate other members of the chat and other people in general, including displays of bigotry and hateful attacks on people due to their beliefs, age, race, gender, sexuality etc. No defamatory material.
  
• No telling members to leave the chat room for any reason. If a member is harassing or causing grief to another member in the chat room, then an Administrator should be contacted immediately.
  
• No highly explicit or graphic descriptions of sexual acts, including but not limited to sexual language and harassment. We have minors in the chat, and some people find this offensive. If this is unsolicited it is cause for an immediate ban with no warnings.
  
• No discussions pertaining to the purchase or use of illegal substances, or discussions concerning illegal substances themselves.

The following is cause for an instant ban from the chat, without warning. Depending on the seriousness of the offence, you may be banned from MagickaSpace.

• Any engagement in illegal activities, including the solicitation of sex with minors.
  
• Soliciting personal information (such as address / phone number) from a minor.
  
• Facilitating or transmitting viruses or harmful computer code.
  
• Infringing intellectual copyright laws (e.g. plagiarism).

• Could members using the chatroom please refrain from excessive use of the "smileys" and "virtual boxes" when in the main chatroom area, as this distracts the other members and will help in keeping the main chat on topic. Remember, you can always "Private Chat" with another member if you are not interested in the main topic at the time. Your co-operation with this would be appreciated and repeat "offenders" may be asked to refrain from this type of "non - chat" if it is disrupting the topic. Members may receive a ban from the chat if they persist with this behaviour.

III. CAUTIONARY PROVISIONS FOR OFF-SITE INSTANT-MESSAGING

Please exercise extreme caution in giving out your off-site instant-messaging (Yahoo!, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, AIM, Google Talk, etc.) contact details to others. If you are asked to provide these details and you would rather not give them out, please do not be afraid to say no. If you find anyone not respecting your decision, please contact one of our Administrators with details.

IV. COPYRIGHT RULES

• It is extremely important that no information, photographs, or other forms of artwork are directly copied from another book, web site, periodical, or any other work that holds copyright. If you have permission from the copyright holder, this is fine, but that permission must be stated within the post containing the information. If permission has not been obtained, or notification of permission is not posted a member of the friendly Administrator Team will either edit or delete the post or comment.
  
• It is acceptable to post a work that is based on another but the source for this information must be attributed.
  
• Quotations from a work that still holds copyright is acceptable, but these quotes must be 50 words or less (per source) and the source of the quoted text must be attributed. If a quote is longer than 50 words, or the source is not attributed, a member of the Administrative Team will contact the individual requesting that these policies be met, if there is no response or action taken within 24 hours of the notification, the Administrative team will either edit or delete the post or comment without further notification.
  
• It is not mandatory that an Administrator contact a member concerning editing or deleting posts and comments that are found to violate this policy, but warnings will be issued to each member that does so more than once. A ban from the site will be issued if repeat warnings must be issued to a member.
  
• If you find any copyrighted posts or comments on this website, please message an Administrator (or email admin@magickaschool.com) of the website and provide them with a link. Please do not embarrass people by advising of it in a post or public comment.

To Authors artists and photographers

If you find a piece of work that you hold the copyright to, please notify the Administrator team at admin@magickaschool.com. With a forum this size it is not always possible for us to identify when one of our members has infringed on copyright. As soon as we are notified and verify the claim, we will remove it.

V. REGARDING LINKS

A. Links in Posts and Comments

• You may not post links to your own site if it sells something or other commercial sites in posts. (Use the Products and Services Board of the main forum at http://magickaschool.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12 if appropriate)
  
• You may not post links to sites that would be inappropriate for those under 13 to view anywhere on the site.
  
• If in doubt about whether a link is suitable, please ask an Administrator.

B. Web Links In Your Member-Page

• Other forums: disallowed unless with permission
  
• Other pagan forums: disallowed unless with permission
  
• Other pagan networking sites: disallowed unless with permission
  
• Other interactive sites such as Neopets.com: allowed
  
• Member's own covens/Witchvox/MySpace etc: allowed as long as they don't clash with Magicka offerings directly, eg Witchschool
  
• Magicka's affiliates ie Laughing Witch, Self Harmony etc: allowed
  
• Members personal web sites (not selling): allowed
  
• Member's personal websites (selling): allowed
  
• MySpace links: allowed
  
• Imvu links: allowed
  
• Blog links: allowed
  
• Porn/spam links: banned from whole site

Also if a member has registered at MagickaSpace and has not logged into their account after 1 week and the member has a web link in their profile, the link will be removed.

Web links that are not allowed in profiles can be placed into a post in our Products and Services board at the main forum (http://magickaschool.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12). The only exception to this rule is that porn and spam links will not be tolerated anywhere on the site. Disallowed weblinks will be removed straight away without warning if they are in your member-page set as a link. Links In Comments On Other Member-Pages.

Additionally:

• Please do not put links to retail sites, or other religious sites/schools/forums in comments on other member-pages.
  
• Links to other religious sites/schools/forums may be kept in your web link in your own member-page, not in a comment (see table above for what is allowed). Links to retail sites may also be kept in your profile as long as they are your own site, and of appropriate and legal merchandise. An advertisement may also be placed in the Products and Services Forum on the main site (http://magickaschool.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12) as long as these sites are of appropriate and legal merchandise. All links must be within MagickaSpace's guidelines and if you are in doubt of whether you can use something, please PM one of the Administrators.
  
• Our team of friendly Administrators keeps a close eye on the links that are provided. If a violation is found by the Administrators a friendly reminder will be sent to the member up to two (2) times. Thereafter it will be in the hands of the Administrative Team for further action.
  
• Pornography, and other spam links will not be tolerated anywhere on the site, and the member risks an immediate full ban from the site should they display them. We may also report such links to the relevant legal authorities at our discretion.
  
• Again, you may not post links to your own site if it sells something or other commercial sites in your posts.
  
• Please be careful when clicking on any links in member-pages as MagickaSpace cannot be held responsible. MagickaSpace does not endorse any of the links displayed in member-pages. Visiting such links is at the viewer's own risk and we are not responsible for the experience you have when clicking on them.

VI. GRIEVANCE AND COMPLAINT PROCEDURE

In the interests of maintaining a peaceful environment:

• If a member has a grievance or complaint against another member they should private message any of the Administrators or email admin@magickaschool.com. They will either deal with the issue themselves or refer it to the team for discussion.
  
• If the grievance or complaint is about one of the Administrative team then Pino (http://magickaspace.ning.com/profile/PinoLongchild) or Torey (http://magickaspace.ning.com/profile/ToreyScott) should be contacted through PM .
  
• Please do not post grievances or complaints against other members or Administrators (even if worded indirectly) publicly on the site as they will be deleted.
• Remember that membership is a privilege, not a right. Therefore the Administrators of MagickaSpace reserve the right to revoke any member's privileges should the rare situation arise which warrants this action.
